Podcast: We also give on the ears
Our lawyers are not only professional when it comes to providing legal advice, but also outside of our law firm. Since this year, lawyer and specialist lawyer Sven Kohlmeier has been regularly discussing current network policy issues relating to Switzerland in the Digital Society podcast. Together with Erik Schöneberg (computer scientist, Managing Director of the Digital Society), Rahel Estermann (Secretary General of the Swiss Green Party) and Jörg Mäder (net politician, former National Councillor), there is a podcast every three weeks on the topics of data protection, free access to information, political participation, data security and digital democracy - and of course currently also on AI.
In particular, Sven Kohlmeier provides insights into legal aspects, decisions or cross-border issues, for example with regard to the EU or GDPR, which have an impact on Switzerland.
Listening recommendations
Among other things, Sven's assessments of a complaint by NOYB for Max Schrems to the Austrian data protection authority against OpenAI for data protection violations(episode 44), a ruling on a virtual house ban to prevent warnings(episode 43) and a decision by the ECtHR on the encryption of private communications(episode 42) are worth listening to.
Further topics and tips:
The other topics are also reason enough to listen to the podcast: For example, the investigation report on the Xplain hack is classified(episode 44), the help of a Swiss company to train facial recognition for a Russian company is highlighted(episode 44), criticism of the police law is examined(episode 43) and cyber security topics such as the backdoor in open source software are discussed(episode 42).
At the end of each episode, there are short messages and information about events, such as"Jugend hackt" from June 14 to 16 in Zurich. At this free event, young people develop digital tools, prototypes and concepts for a better future with the support of experienced mentors. In the process, they learn how to use technology responsibly and find solutions to socio-political challenges. Registrations for 12 - 18 year old participants at: https://www.digitale-gesellschaft.ch/event/jugend-hackt-zuerich-2024/.
All episodes of the net podcast are linked on the website of the Digital Society, and there are also background information and links to each episode on the website.
We recommend you listen to it.
